The launch window for the Nintendo Switch successor, dubbed Switch 2, has possibly been revealed via an email.
YouTuber Stephen_Georg took to Twitter/X to share that he received an email about an upcoming game that included mention of “Nintendo Switch(es)”, implying both the original and Switch 2.
The email received by the content creator reads, “rolling out Q1 2025 on PC (Steam), Xbox One & Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and…Nintendo Switch(es)!” This suggests that the launch window for the Nintendo Switch 2 is sometime during the first quarter of next year.
As per Reset Era member salromano, the aforementioned email is regarding the adventure game, Ruffy and the Riverside. He mentioned that it is a regular press release that isn’t embargoed. The game is developed by an indie studio and published by a very new indie publisher. He clarified that the parenthesis is there along with the mention of the Switch because Nintendo had already confirmed that its games will be playable on its successor.
Previously, Twitter/X insider NWeedle had claimed that the Nintendo Switch 2 OS menu features a performance toggle for use in its portable mode. According to their information, users of Nintendo’s next console will be able to prioritize either battery duration or power in its portable mode. The insider had claimed to have obtained the aforementioned details via a developer who is in possession of a Nintendo Switch 2 development kit. They believe that the console maker wants to avoid having titles offer multiple graphics options from their own in-game menu. The aim is likely to simplify the process of choosing a graphics mode, with a one-time configuration that can be performed at the OS level. Having an OS level graphics mode selection that works across all games in the Nintendo Switch 2’s Portable mode can indeed be very convenient for the end user.
