Nintendo’s latest sales figures indicate strong momentum for both its last and current-generation hardware, with the Nintendo Switch 2 surpassing 17.37 million units sold worldwide and the original Nintendo Switch reaching 155.37 million units.

Nintendo shipped an additional 7.01 million Nintendo Switch 2 units during the last quarter, bringing total shipments to more than 17.37 million units within seven months of launch. This represents the best 3rd quarter for any Nintendo system, surpassing Wii’s 3.43m units. Nintendo is currently forecasting 19 million Switch 2 units shipped by March 2026, which would require an additional 1.63 million units.

At the same time, the original Nintendo Switch has continued to post steady sales, with total lifetime units sold now at 155.37 million. The system moved 1.36 million units in the last quarter alone. With this total, the Nintendo Switch has surpassed the Nintendo DS, which previously stood at 154.02 million units, becoming the best-selling hardware in Nintendo’s history.

Alongside hardware data, Nintendo also released updated sales figures for several first-party titles across Switch and Switch 2 platforms, current as of December 31, 2025, with increases from the last quarter included. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe leads overall software sales with 70.59 million units sold, followed by Animal Crossing: New Horizons at 49.32 million and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate at 37.44 million. Other high-performing titles include The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild at 33.64 million, Super Mario Odyssey at 30.27 million, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet at 28.08 million, and Pokémon Sword and Shield at 27.08 million.

More recent releases are also showing notable results. Mario Kart World has reached 14.03 million units sold. Pokémon Legends: Z-A stands at 8.41 million units, while the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of Pokémon Legends: Z-A has sold 3.89 million units. Donkey Kong Bananza has moved 4.25 million units, and Kirby Air Riders has reached 1.76 million.

The dual performance of Nintendo’s hardware platforms highlights a rare overlap period in which an outgoing system remains commercially strong while its successor posts rapid adoption. With the Nintendo Switch continuing to add to its lifetime total and the Nintendo Switch 2 on pace to approach 20 million units within its first year, Nintendo’s hybrid ecosystem is currently delivering record-setting results on both ends of the generational spectrum.
