The Nintendo Switch 2 has reportedly been shipped with a minor battery calibration issue, but here’s a simple and easy fix.
Twitter/X user Jake_Randall_YT, known for sharing news and information related to Nintendo Switch 2, has reported that all launch models of the console have a battery level reading issue. Most users, around 90%, won’t notice anything wrong because the system appears to function normally. However, there’s a simple way to check: use the device in handheld mode until its battery indicator drops to 1%. If it continues running for another 20 minutes at that point, the battery isn’t being read correctly. Luckily, there’s a quick 10-second fix that can resolve the issue for good.

How To Fix The Nintendo Switch 2 Battery Calibration Issue
Follow the simple and easy steps outlined below to fix the Nintendo Switch 2 battery calibration issue.
- Confirm that you’re using an adequately powerful AC adapter to charge your console.
- The Nintendo Switch AC adapter (Model HAC-002) can be used to charge the Nintendo Switch 2 when plugged into the console directly. Due to power output differences, it cannot be used to charge the Nintendo Switch 2 when docked.
- Confirm that your console has the latest system update.
- Power off the console.
- Press and hold down the volume up (+) and volume down (-) buttons, press the POWER Button once to turn the system on.
- Keep holding down the volume buttons until the menu for Recovery Mode appears. Navigating to this menu should reset the battery level meter.
- Power off the console again by pressing and holding the POWER Button until it turns off.
- Power the console back on and monitor the situation.
Performing the above steps should be enough to reset the battery level meter. However, should the issue persist despite following the above instructions, the battery is likely faulty and the console will need to be sent in to Nintendo for repair.
