The Nintendo Switch 2 may be set to receive its very first hardware revision, based on a new discovery on the console maker’s account portal.
Blue Sky user dootsky.re recently discovered that Nintendo’s Account Portal contains an unused product code under the name “OSM”, hinting at the possibility of a Nintendo Switch 2 hardware revision. For the sake of comparison, the console’s launch model product code is “BEE”.
Nintendo’s Account Portal generates system icons based on the product code. Typing the code name “OSM” in the link returns an icon for a Nintendo Switch 2 console.
Below is a list of product codes and links to the sample image generated for each of them.
- HAC: Original Nintendo Switch
- HEG: Nintendo Switch OLED
- HDH: Nintendo Switch Lite
- BEE: Nintendo Switch 2
- OSM: Possible Nintendo Switch 2 hardware revision
It’s worth noting that the system icon generated for the code name “OSM” isn’t a default placeholder, as entering any other combination of strings returns an error message. Just like the launch model, Nintendo Switch 2 devkits use the BEE product code.
This is pure speculation, but “OSM” may stand for “OLED Switch 2 Model” or “OLED Screen Model”, especially if this potential hardware revision features an OLED display. According to a report from last year, Samsung pushed for its OLED panels to be part of a future Nintendo Switch 2 refresh, potentially replacing the initial model’s display setup. The original 2017 Switch used a chipset built by TSMC on older manufacturing nodes, but Nintendo is said to have switched to Samsung this time because the new Nvidia-based processor is better suited to Samsung’s fabrication process. Samsung is already in an ongoing partnership with Nintendo, as it supplies components like memory chips and OLED screens for original Switch.
The Nintendo Switch 2 launched on June 5, 2025, for the price of 449.99 US Dollars/469.99 Euros/49,980 Yen.
