Nintendo Switch 2 sales in the UK saw a sharp increase in March, with new data pointing to a significant month-on-month jump tied to a major first-party release.
Christopher Dring, Editor-in-Chief of TheGameBusiness, reported that “Nintendo Switch 2 UK sales jumped 154% in March month-on-month following the release of Pokemon Pokopia,” adding that “Nintendo accounts for over 50% of all consoles sold in the UK so far this year (Nielsen IQ).” The surge comes shortly after the launch of Pokémon Pokopia on March 5, 2026, which has quickly gained traction both commercially and on digital storefronts.
The spike in sales, however, comes with some context. Dring noted, “One caveat. March was a five-week month, whereas February was a four-week month.” Even with that consideration, the scale of the increase suggests strong momentum for both the platform and its latest exclusive.
In a follow-up exchange regarding competition, Dring also stated that the Switch 2 “has been beating it for ages” when asked whether the console had overtaken the PlayStation 5 in the UK market.
Pokémon Pokopia appears to have played a central role in driving this growth. The title has already surpassed 2.2 million units sold globally within its first four days, while demand in the UK has reportedly outpaced physical supply. As a Switch 2 exclusive, its early success is being linked to increased hardware adoption during the first quarter of 2026.
The console itself continues to perform strongly in the region following its June 2025 release. Annual UK sales for the Switch 2 finished 6% higher than the original Switch during its launch year, despite a 16% dip during the holiday period compared to the 2017 peak of its predecessor. As of March 2026, the system has crossed 17 million units sold worldwide, with the UK emerging as one of its more consistent markets in Europe.
