Nintendo Switch Price Increase Goes Live, Here Are the Revised Prices Across Hardware and Accessories

by Salal Awan

Nintendo has officially implemented a broad range of price increases across its original Nintendo Switch console lineup and first-party accessories, marking a significant shift in pricing strategy more than eight years after the console’s initial release. The updated pricing structure took effect on August 3, 2025, and applies to the Nintendo Switch OLED model, standard Switch, Switch Lite, and several popular accessories, including NSO controllers, amiibo figures, Joy-Cons, and Pro Controllers.

This increase follows earlier retail leaks and a brief pricing update on Target’s storefront, which was quickly rolled back. Nintendo recently announced that the adjustment reflects changes in market conditions. With this move, the company has positioned its legacy hardware closer in price to the newly released Nintendo Switch 2, raising questions about consumer demand and product lifecycle management.

The revised pricing now places the Nintendo Switch OLED at 399.99 USD, up from its previous 349.99 USD. The standard Switch now retails at 339.99 USD, while the Switch Lite has risen to 229.99 USD. These changes come despite the hardware’s long presence on the market, putting the OLED model just 50 USD shy of the Switch 2’s base price of 449.99 USD. The Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundle remains at 499.99 USD.

Alongside the console increases, a range of accessories has also seen notable hikes. NSO (Nintendo Switch Online) controllers, which are available exclusively to online subscribers, have each received individual adjustments:

  • NES controllers have gone from 60 USD to 70 USD
  • SNES controllers increased from 30 USD to 35 USD
  • N64 and Sega Genesis controllers each rose from 50 USD to 55 USD

The standard Nintendo Switch Pro Controller has climbed from 70 USD to 80 USD, while a single Joy-Con has increased from 80 USD to 90 USD. The Alarmo accessory has also been raised from 100 USD to 110 USD. Meanwhile, amiibo figures, once priced at 15.99 USD, now retail for 19.99 USD, with multi-pack options like the 2-pack variants seeing similar increases to either 35 or 40 USD.

Some retailers have responded differently to the shift. GameStop, for instance, has raised the price of the Switch 2 Pro Controller from 85 USD to 90 USD, while other outlets such as the official Nintendo Store have retained the original 85 USD pricing. The Switch 2 Joy-Con controllers remain at 95 USD, although limited-time discounts have brought the price down to 90 USD at select retailers like Amazon and Target.

Despite the emergence of the Nintendo Switch 2, demand for the original Switch remains strong. Nintendo reported during its Q1 FY2026 financial update that the console has sold 153.10 million units worldwide as of June 30, 2025. Even during the same quarter that saw the launch of the Switch 2 in early June, the original system managed to move an additional 980,000 units, indicating continued market interest in the legacy platform.

This big price increase is pretty unusual for old console hardware, especially when it’s sitting next to newer systems. But the Switch is still really popular and has tons of games, so people are still interested in buying it, even though it now costs almost as much as more powerful alternatives. With the holiday season coming up, we’ll have to see how this new pricing affects sales for both the original Switch and the Switch 2.
