Nintendo has released system update version 20.5.0 for the Nintendo Switch. As with many recent firmware updates, this patch focuses primarily on general system stability improvements designed to enhance the user experience.
At this time, no detailed changelog or additional features have been shared. The last notable system update, version 20.1.0 from May 2025, introduced visual changes to parental controls, adjusted the Nintendo Switch Online launch sound, and included transfer support for Nintendo Switch 2.

The Nintendo Switch is a video game console developed by Nintendo and launched worldwide on March 3, 2017. Designed as a hybrid system, it functions as both a home console and a portable device, with detachable Joy-Con controllers that offer versatile gameplay options. The system became a commercial success, selling over 150 million units worldwide as of December 2024, making it the third best-selling console of all time and Nintendo’s most successful home console to date.
Its direct successor, the Nintendo Switch 2, was released on June 5, 2025, and offers backward compatibility with most Switch games.
