Furukawa acknowledged that global supply of Switch 2 hardware has largely stabilized, though Japan is still experiencing shortages and will need more time before demand is fully met. He said that Nintendo’s goal is to make Switch 2 accommodating for both first-party and third-party developers to realize their ideas. He also noted that there are always people picking up their first game console at a certain stage in life, and Nintendo wants Switch 2 to be accessible for those newcomers.

On the topic of Switch 2 production costs, the Nintendo president explained that components are procured according to Nintendo’s medium- to long-term business plans. While current memory prices are not having an immediate impact on financial performance, the company is monitoring market conditions closely. As for a potential price hike, he carefully responded by saying that he could not comment on hypothetical scenarios.

Nintendo also plans to significantly enhance its software lineup from 2026 onward, as Furukawa confirmed that development is underway on new entries in popular series that many fans have been waiting for alongside entirely new IPs.

Furthermore, the Nintendo president mentioned that details regarding the upcoming Zelda film will be revealed gradually. The company also aims to build excitement leading up to the release of the next Super Mario movie. According to him, the primary goal of these films is not short-term profit, but long-term character exposure, with the hope of establishing a system that allows for more movie projects in the future.
