Nippon Ichi Software appears to have unintentionally revealed a new title for the Nintendo Switch 2, possibly ahead of schedule and just before a rumored Nintendo Direct presentation. A tweet posted on the company’s official Japanese social media account briefly introduced a new game titled Garden Life, described as a countryside life simulation experience. While the tweet was swiftly deleted, users on Reddit managed to capture screenshots of the post before its removal.
The translated content of the tweet indicates that Garden Life is being developed by the team behind the Yomawari series, a franchise known for its distinctive blend of atmospheric horror and exploration. The announcement called Garden Life a “completely new work” and noted that it is scheduled for release on July 30, 2026. The game will reportedly be available on multiple platforms including Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Steam. A limited edition featuring exclusive items was also teased as part of the pre-order campaign.
An image included in the now-deleted post further detailed the game’s premise and platform availability. One piece of text reads, “Life, and sometimes, adventure,” hinting at a more relaxed, exploration-focused gameplay loop that may deviate from the developer’s darker titles. The visual style and tone implied in the promotional material suggest a departure from Yomawari’s eerie undertones toward something more soothing and grounded in daily life, possibly akin to games like Harvest Moon or Story of Seasons.
Nippon Ichi Software is largely recognized for its work on the Disgaea tactical RPG series and the Yomawari franchise. The company recently announced the release date for Disgaea 7 Complete Edition, and this new title could signal a broader initiative to support the Nintendo Switch 2 with multiple projects.
The Yomawari series began with Yomawari: Night Alone, first released for the PlayStation Vita and PC in 2015. It was followed by two sequels: Yomawari: Midnight Shadows and Yomawari: Lost in the Dark. The first two entries were later bundled for the Nintendo Switch under Yomawari: The Long Night Collection, while the third game arrived on modern platforms in 2022.
While Garden Life has yet to be officially re-announced, the timing of this accidental reveal and its alignment with the widely speculated Nintendo Direct may indicate that a formal presentation is imminent.
