No Man’s Sky Update 5.53 Patch Notes: Bug Fixes, Water Simulation Fixes, and Performance Improvements

No Man’s Sky Worlds Part II Update 5.53 is now live on Steam, with fixes for a variety of bugs and performance issues.

Key highlights include resolving water simulation glitches (such as vanishing oceans on PS5), fixing mission blockers in the Artemis and Atlas Path questlines, and addressing crashes related to memory management and animations.     • S-Class upgrades to the Grafted Eyes now choose 3 bonuses.
    • Fixed X-Class Neutron Cannon upgrades having lower bonuses than S-Class.
    • Fixed hermit crabs being listed as extinct on the Discovery Page.
    • Abandoned Mode saves now indicate their status on the load screen.
    • Fixed mission issues after joining another player aboard the Space Anomaly.
    • Fixed decals not being colored correctly.
    • Fixed ships or Multi-Tools appearing twice in their archive UIs.
    • Fixed rare ship color changes when retrieved from cold storage.
    • Fixed Multi-Tool class display on the weapon rack UI.

    • Fixed issues preventing the Space Anomaly or Atlas Path missions from starting.
    • Fixed a rare blocker in In Stellar Multitudes where players wouldn’t know the correct recipes.

    • Fixed water simulation issues, including vanishing oceans on PlayStation 5.
    • Planetary rings and rainbows now reflect correctly in water.
    • Fixed flickering glitches with water rendering.
    • Resolved additional visual glitches with water rendering and lighting.

    • Improved load times for games using a large number of mods.
    • Optimized video memory usage.
    • Fixed crashes related to creature navigation, animations, and memory management.
