No Rest for the Wicked has officially surpassed one million copies sold on Steam, marking a major milestone for the action role-playing game during its Early Access period. The announcement was shared directly by the development team as the project continues to expand ahead of the launch of its next major update. The sales figure reflects sustained player interest since the title entered Early Access and arrives just days before the release of its upcoming cooperative feature set.
The milestone was confirmed through a public statement from the developers, who emphasized the role of the community in shaping the game throughout development. In a message shared under the No Rest for the Wicked name, the team stated, “1 MILLION copies sold on Steam!!! You believed in No Rest for the Wicked during Early Access and helped us build it into what it is today. That’s not something we take lightly.”
Developed by Moon Studios, known for the Ori series, No Rest for the Wicked represents a significant tonal and structural shift for the studio. The game is positioned as a top-down action RPG set in a grim, hand-painted world afflicted by a spreading Pestilence. Its combat-driven design emphasizes precision and strategy, placing heavy demands on player execution rather than accessibility. Since entering Steam Early Access on April 18, 2024, the game has received multiple major content updates that have gradually expanded its systems and scope.
The next major step in that evolution arrives with the Together update, scheduled to launch on January 22, 2026. This update introduces cooperative gameplay, a feature that has been highly anticipated by the existing player base. According to the developers, this update is intended to make the experience more shared and community-focused, aligning with the growth reflected in the latest sales milestone.
At present, No Rest for the Wicked remains a PC exclusive as development continues. However, version 1.0 is planned to expand the game’s reach to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. The developers have also hinted at a possible release on Nintendo Switch 2, though no formal announcement has been made.
