Grinding Gear Games has announced that Path of Exile 2 will receive its next major content update, version 0.3.0, on August 29, 2025. This follows the studio’s established four-month update cycle and introduces a new seasonal League alongside broader additions to the core game.
The August update will serve as the second major expansion since the action RPG launched in early access last December. As part of the update, players can expect a new League—a temporary mode featuring a self-contained economy, unique mechanics, and exclusive content. These Leagues are central to Path of Exile 2’s post-launch roadmap, offering players fresh challenges, experimental gameplay features, and a break from the main game’s established systems.
According to the developers, each League introduces elements such as new combat mechanics, crafting systems, powerful rewards, and boss encounters. During its run, the League’s content will appear across all areas of the game, allowing players to engage with the new systems as they progress. Once a League ends, its content may later be adapted into the standard game—though typically only after refinement and balance adjustments.
The update will also include additional enhancements to the base game, with the studio emphasizing that Path of Exile 2 is still in early access and continues to evolve with each patch. Grinding Gear Games confirmed that development priorities include delivering new systems, finishing incomplete content, and reacting to community feedback throughout the early access period.
Update 0.3.0 is scheduled for August 29, slightly later than originally anticipated. The delay, the studio explained, was necessary due to the update’s size and a few external scheduling constraints. A full reveal of the update’s content is planned approximately one week before launch.
Path of Exile 2 is available in paid early access for Windows PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. It builds upon the systems of its predecessor while introducing modern improvements, new classes, and an updated visual engine. With a consistent update cadence planned for every four months, the game is poised to remain an evolving live service experience well into its post-launch life.
