Phantom Blade Zero Confirmed as Timed PS5 Console Exclusive

by Ali Haider

Phantom Blade Zero has been confirmed as a timed PlayStation 5 console exclusive following its latest appearance at The Game Awards 2025. The confirmation comes directly from a disclaimer displayed at the end of the newly released trailer, which also revealed the game’s official release date. According to the on-screen text, the action RPG will not be available on other consoles for a minimum of 12 months after launch.

The disclaimer shown in the trailer states, “Not available on other consoles until at least 12 months after release date.” It further clarifies that the title is a “PlayStation 5 console exclusive,” while also noting that it will be “also available on PC.” This positions Phantom Blade Zero in a similar exclusivity arrangement to other recent PlayStation-backed releases, where console availability is initially limited to PS5 alongside a PC version.

This exclusivity window is not unexpected, as Phantom Blade Zero is part of Sony Interactive Entertainment’s PlayStation China Hero Project. The initiative has historically focused on supporting Chinese developers while prioritizing PlayStation platforms as the primary console destination. As such, the one-year console exclusivity aligns with the broader goals and structure of the program.

Phantom Blade Zero is being developed by S-GAME and is described as a fast-paced action role-playing game set in a dark “kung fu punk” world. The game blends traditional Chinese Wuxia influences with a bleak, cyberpunk-inspired tone. Players assume the role of Soul, an elite assassin who is framed for the murder of his master. After suffering a fatal injury that leaves him with only 66 days to live, Soul must hunt down the true killer and expose a far-reaching conspiracy before time runs out.

Phantom Blade Zero is scheduled to release on September 9, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and PC via Windows. While other console platforms are not ruled out entirely, the trailer’s disclaimer makes it clear that any such releases will not occur until at least one year after launch. For now, PlayStation 5 will be the only console platform officially supported during that initial period.
