Phasmophobia Celebrates 5th Anniversary with Double XP, Twitch Drops, and Community Events

Kinetic Games is celebrating five years of Phasmophobia since its launch on Steam, and the developers are thanking the more than 25 million players who joined the hunt over the years. The milestone comes with in-game festivities, rewards, and special events to honor the Ghost Hunter community.

From September 15 through September 21, players can enjoy a decorated lobby and the first-ever Double XP challenge, with progress marked as “5th Anniversary – x2” on the debrief screen. Logging in during this period also grants the Veteran ID card and badge. Meanwhile, Twitch Drops will allow fans to earn animated anniversary rewards by watching streams, alongside new quality-of-life improvements for account linking.

In-Game Celebrations:

  • Lobby decorated for the 5th Anniversary party

  • Twitch Drops pop-up now shows the connected account name
  • Added ‘Disconnect’ button to unlink accounts directly in-game

Out-of-Game Events:

  • Additional announcements planned throughout the week via social channels
  • Phasmophobia to appear at TwitchCon San Diego with 5th anniversary celebrations
  • Crimson Eye in-game event will be highlighted during the convention
  • Community encouraged to share stories with hashtag #5YearsOfPhasmo

Phasmophobia is a paranormal horror game developed and published by British indie studio Kinetic Games. It launched in early access for Microsoft Windows with VR support in September 2020. The game supports one to four players as ghost hunters investigating haunted locations and has become a cult favorite, praised for its innovation and community-driven growth.
