Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer said that the company is fond of working with Nintendo, and plans to bring more Xbox games on more platforms in future.
During an interview with Danny Peña on YouTube, the Microsoft Gaming CEO was asked about the company’s stance on multiplatform releases of its first-party catalog of games. In his response, Phil Spencer revealed that working with Nintendo has been a great experience for Xbox.
Spencer reaffirmed that he wants more people to engage with the games Microsoft’s first-party studios are building, whether that’s through Xbox, other hardware, desktop PCs, handheld PCs, Cloud, or phones. According to him, more people being able to play on Xbox means more of the company’s titles shipping on more platforms.
In addition to PlayStation, Spencer said that Microsoft is fond of the work it does with Nintendo. He also expressed that the company has had a good experience working with Valve on Steam. He said that these efforts are going to continue heading into the future.
The Microsoft Gaming CEO has learned that putting the games first and making sure they can be as great as they can is the right approach for the company. He said that he’s fond of the experience on Xbox hardware and platform, but Microsoft’s games will continue to show up in more and more platforms.
Spencer’s statement seems to confirm a recent rumor regarding Microsoft looking to support the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 in a major way. Content creator and insider eXtas1s had claimed that Microsoft is bringing a Call of Duty game, among others, to the Nintendo Switch 2. He speculated that it is either Warzone, Black Ops 6, or the next entry. He further mentioned that the company’s collaboration with Nintendo doesn’t stop at Call of Duty, as, according to him, Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 are both in development for Nintendo’s next console. He also believes that Bethesda will port Fallout 4 and Starfield to Nintendo’s upcoming console.
