Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted Update 1.2.1 Fixes Visual Glitches, Gameplay Bugs, and Input Issues

PopCap Games and The Lost Pixels have released Patch 1.2.1 for Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted, marking the game’s first major post-launch update since its release. This patch addresses a wide variety of bugs and quality-of-life issues, improving both visual and gameplay consistency across all platforms. Key fixes include improvements to character animations, resolution corrections for the “You got a new plant!” screens, and several adjustments to in-game layering and input responsiveness.

In addition to gameplay refinements, the patch resolves several interface and control issues affecting modes such as Adventure+ and Versus Mode, ensuring a smoother experience for both solo and multiplayer sessions. PopCap also confirmed that Patch 1.3.0 is already in development, promising dynamic audio enhancements and additional performance optimizations in the near future.

Graphical Fixes

  • Fixed image resolution on the “You got a new plant!” screens.
  • Corrected Retro Zombie model parts to prevent blurriness.
  • Fixed multiple issues with hover and click state appearances.
  • Resolved missing Tree Food visuals during Crazy Dave’s Tree of Wisdom introduction.
  • Fixed layering issue affecting Digger Zombie effects in Fog levels.
  • Removed unintended faces on Plant Pots.
  • Fixed Cob Cannon visuals persisting after removal with a shovel.
  • Corrected several animation cycling and looping problems.

Vs Mode

  • Fixed an issue where Player 1 could not use held plants while Player 2 placed zombies simultaneously.

Gameplay Adjustments

  • Crazy Dave no longer auto-selects Peashooter in every Adventure+ session.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented plant activation when holding items during Cob Cannon use with certain inputs.
  • D-Pad directional inputs are now continuous instead of requiring separate presses.

Audio Fixes

  • Peashooter firing sounds now play the correct number of times during battles.

Miscellaneous Improvements

  • Fixed launch issues related to the Steam Overlay being disabled or offline.
  • Corrected minor text string errors.
  • Cursor visibility is now maintained when scrolling through the Cheats menu before unlocking all options.
  • Players can no longer access unintended screens while viewing the Almanac.
  • Removed the Imitater from the Zombie Almanac.
  • Fixed input interruptions caused by the “Wake Stinky the Snail” banner.

Developer Note

  • Patch 1.3.0 is currently in development and will introduce Dynamic Audio, enhanced sound design, and additional bug fixes. The update is expected within a week, with full details to follow upon release.

Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted is a complete HD remaster of the classic 2009 tower defense game, rebuilt with 4K visuals, widescreen support, and all content from the Game of the Year Edition and past console versions. The remaster introduces local split-screen co-op, PvP multiplayer, the challenging Rest in Peace mode, and restored bonus levels from the game’s early development.
