PlayStation consoles have now been included in the Halo public playtest program, according to the latest details.

Dataminer gruntdotapi (via Mr_Rebs_ on Twitter/X) has shared that PlayStation consoles have been added to the Halo public playtest program, known as Insider Console Flighting. Previously, the onboarding questionnaire only listed Xbox One, Xbox One S, Xbox One X, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X as consoles that could be selected as one’s platform of choice.

However, now the list includes PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 5 Pro as options for those joining the Halo Insider Console Flighting program. Adding PlayStation consoles to the playtest soon after the Halo: Campaign Evolved announcement suggests that a public beta for the game may be set to happen in the near future.

Back in August, 2025, the same dataminer found an unannounced Halo title listed in the Xbox API indicated PlayStation compatibility. The game was also linked to PlayFab, Microsoft’s backend service that supports cross-platform progression, matchmaking, and other multiplayer functions. While PlayFab may be used for campaign features, it is primarily associated with online multiplayer. The aforementioned API also contains a beta title tied to this new PlayStation-compatible Halo project. While its exact purpose is unclear, Grunt API speculated that it could be related to Project Eker, a rumored Halo multiplayer project. A second Halo title with PlayStation compatibility is also listed, and Grunt API believes that these are likely to be to different games. We now know that one of them is Halo: Combat Evolved.

In related news, following weeks of speculation regarding the role of artificial intelligence in the development of upcoming Halo projects, Halo Studios recently addressed the matter, confirming that AI is being utilized in limited capacities to assist with production workflows. However, the studio’s leadership clarified that human creativity remains the driving force behind the franchise’s development and identity. More details here.
