PlayStation Plus August 2025 Game Catalog Brings Mortal Kombat 1, Marvel’s Spider-Man, and More

Sony has officially revealed the PlayStation Plus August 2025 Game Catalog, and this month’s lineup offers a strong mix of blockbuster hits, unique indie experiences, and nostalgic classics. Available to both PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscribers starting August 19, the selection covers multiple genres, making sure there’s something for nearly every type of player. Premium members will also get access to new classic titles and an exclusive game trial for one of this year’s most anticipated releases.

Leading the pack is Mortal Kombat 1 for PlayStation 5, a complete reimagining of the legendary fighting series. Set in a new era created by Fire God Liu Kang, the game features reinterpreted characters, improved mechanics, and cinematic storytelling. Marvel fans can look forward to Marvel’s Spider-Man, available as the Remastered edition for PS5 and the Game of the Year Edition for PS4, delivering one of the most acclaimed superhero experiences in gaming. Other standout additions include Sword of the Sea, an atmospheric surfing adventure from the creator of Journey; Earth Defense Force 6, where players fight off colossal alien threats; and Unicorn Overlord, a richly designed tactical RPG from Vanillaware.

Indie and story-driven games also shine this month, with Indika offering a surreal journey blending religious themes and psychological exploration, Harold Halibut presenting a handmade sci-fi adventure aboard an underwater spaceship, and Coral Island providing a vibrant farming and life simulation experience. Fans of role-playing games can dive into Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key, the final chapter in Ryza’s trilogy.

Premium tier subscribers get additional treats, with enhanced versions of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis joining the classics library, complete with modern features like up-rendering, rewind, and quick saves. Premium members will also get a 5-hour Game Trial of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, giving them an early chance to experience Kojima Productions’ upcoming epic before launch.
