PlayStation Portal users who are subscribed to PS Plus Premium may soon be able to stream their PSN digital game library via the cloud.

Reddit and Reset Era members have reported that the PlayStation Store pages for some games, including The Outer Worlds 2, Dead Space, and Deliver At All Costs, on the mobile PS App mentioned that, once purchased, PS Plus Premium subscribers can stream and instantly play these titles on the PlayStation Portal. The information has since been removed from the store pages for the aforementioned games, but a screenshot of it stated on The Outer Worlds 2’s store page can be seen below.

This suggests that Sony Interactive Entertainment may be preparing to update the PlayStation Portal with a new feature that will allow PS Plus Premium subscribers to stream their PSN digital game library to the handheld device via the cloud.

As of writing, PS Plus Premium subscribers can only stream their game library on their PS5. However, a select few titles from the PlayStation Plus Game Catalogue can also be streamed directly to the PlayStation Portal, indicating that the feature already exists in a very limited capacity.

If Sony Interactive Entertainment does indeed allow PS Plus Premium subscribers to stream their PSN digital game library to the PlayStation Portal via the cloud, the handheld device would become more versatile and useful to a lot more people. However, it remains to be seen if this will indeed be the case. The console maker has yet to make an official statement in this regard.

Last year, it was reported via Circana Retail Tracking Service that PlayStation Portal sales had reached close to 500,000 units in the US since its launch in November, 2023. While the sales figures indicate that around 3% of PS5 owners have purchased it in the country, it’s worth remembering that Sony Interactive Entertainment has a more modest sales target for the handheld accessory. It was, therefore, seen as a major success for the company.
