Sony Interactive Entertainment may be getting ready to host a PlayStation Showcase event in the month of December, 2024.
The new Play Has No Limits commercial from Sony Interactive Entertainment may have revealed the date for a possible PlayStation Showcase event. Around 47 seconds into the ad, a noticeboard displays the numbers “03 12 20:24”, hinting that a PlayStation Showcase may be set to happen on Tuesday, December 03, 2024.
December 03 happens to be the date for PlayStation’s anniversary. While the commercial may just have included the date as a nod to the brand’s 30th anniversary, it’s worth mentioning that there was a State of Play in December, 2019 to honor PlayStation’s 25th anniversary. Therefore, it’s possible that Sony Interactive Entertainment may be looking to do something similar a decade later.
Back in May, insider Tom Henderson had hinted at Sony Interactive Entertainment’s plans to host a PlayStation Showcase towards the end of the year. Furthermore, according to Reset Era member shinobi602, who is known for his contacts within the game industry, Sony Interactive Entertainment has multiple major titles from PlayStation first party studios in development that are set for release next year in 2025. He clarified that he isn’t referring to titles like Rise of the Ronin, Stellar Blade, which were developed by third-party studios.
At the time, the Reset Era member did not know when Sony Interactive Entertainment would be revealing these unannounced titles. He speculated that the console maker may hold another event later in the year in order to announce the aforementioned games.
Among the unannounced titles that may be revealed at the rumored PlayStation Showcase is Naughty Dog’s upcoming game. Content creator Ben Hanson had mentioned hearing a few things about it, including comparisons to “a game with a lot of player freedom”. Naughty Dog president and game director Neil Druckmann had also termed the game as really “ambitious”.
