Sony Interactive Entertainment may be set to host a PlayStation Showcase or a State of Play presentation in September, 2025.

During the latest episode of Giant Bomb’s Game Mess Mornings, co-host Jeff Grubb, who is known for his sources in the game industry, mentioned that he’s comfortable in saying that Sony Interactive Entertainment is planning a State of Play or a PlayStation Showcase around the end of September, 2025.

Grubb doesn’t believe Haven Studios’ live service heist game, Fairgames, will make an appearance at the PlayStation Showcase or State of Play. Instead, according to him, the presentation will focus on Sony’s other projects. Fans are undoubtedly hoping to get a sneak peak at the future lineup of PlayStation first-party releases, and this could be where it happens.

Back in February, Grubb had mentioned that 2026 is the year when a lot of projects that are in development at PlayStation Studios will see the light of day. If the company does go ahead with a PlayStation showcase or State of Play presentation, it will have a lot of announcements and games to show. Fans can expect to see more of previously announced games like Marvel’s Wolverine, Saros, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, and perhaps Santa Monica’s next title.

Multiple sources, including Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier, recently commented on Santa Monica Studio’s next endeavor, hinting at a project that is neither a brand-new intellectual property nor a science fiction title. In response to ongoing speculation within the gaming community, he shared his perspective on the Reset Era forums. “I’ll put it this way: it’s not a new IP but it might feel like one. Maybe that’s why people are confused,” he said. Schreier clarified that while he was unable to disclose more details at the time, any additional information he may report would be published through his formal channels rather than on public forums. He also addressed longstanding rumors suggesting that Santa Monica Studio was working on a science fiction game. He dismissed those claims, stating that the sci-fi speculation “is nonsense.”
