Pocketpair Announces Palfarm, a Farming Spin Off of Palworld for PC

by Greg Martin

Japanese developer Pocketpair has announced Palfarm, a new spin off of its successful monster collecting title Palworld. Unlike the main game’s focus on survival and combat, this upcoming release centers around farming, community life, and cooperation with the series’ signature creatures known as Pals. The title is set to launch on PC and will feature full multiplayer support.

In Palfarm, players move to the Palpagos Islands where they can build their dream farm alongside the mysterious Pals. Each Pal is equipped with unique skills, which can be used for activities such as planting seeds, watering crops, or helping with crafting. Pocketpair emphasizes that this is a gentler take on its universe, noting that “eating your own Pals is absolutely out of the question,” highlighting the game’s theme of harmony between humans and creatures.

The gameplay loop offers more than just tending fields. The island features seasonal changes, social interactions with both residents and Pals, and even the possibility of deeper relationships forming over time. Some Pals may act as matchmakers, bringing a touch of unexpected charm to daily life. The developers also include an element of challenge, with hostile Pals occasionally threatening farms, pushing players to defend their land while gathering resources through combat.

Commerce will play a notable role as well, with a marketplace where Pals and residents sell crops, crafted goods, and rare items. A hidden black market also exists, where players may find more questionable materials such as weapons or unusual fertilizers. While intriguing, purchases from this underground hub come with their own risks, adding an extra layer of decision making to the peaceful island lifestyle.

Palfarm continues the expansion of Pocketpair’s Palworld franchise, which first launched in early access in January 2024. While Palworld emphasized survival and large scale combat with up to 32 players, its farming focused counterpart looks to attract those who prefer a more relaxed, community driven experience.
