The Pokémon Company has announced that a November update for Pokémon Legends: Z-A is currently being developed to resolve several significant gameplay issues reported by players. These problems primarily affect Pokémon capture mechanics and mission progression under specific conditions, disrupting gameplay flow in certain scenarios. The upcoming patch aims to improve stability and ensure smoother experiences for both Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 players.
According to the official statement, the most critical bug prevents players from catching Pokémon or receiving mission rewards when their storage box is full before the initial Mega Evolved Outbreak battle. Additionally, some side missions can become impossible to complete if the in-game time shifts between day and night at the precise moment a move lands on a target. The update scheduled for November 2025 will address these issues to restore full gameplay functionality.
Full Patch Plan
Announcement Date: October 30, 2025
Planned Update Release: November 2025
Platforms: Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2
Confirmed Issues
- Pokémon Capture Issue:
- If the Pokémon Box becomes full before the initial Mega Evolved Outbreak battle, and the Box screen has never been opened since reaching capacity, the player will fail to catch Pokémon under all circumstances.
- Mission Reward Issue:
- Completing a Side Mission that grants a Pokémon as a reward while the Pokémon Box is full will cause the mission to finish without adding the Pokémon to the player’s collection.
- Battle Transition Bug:
- During certain Side Missions, if a day-to-night transition occurs exactly as a move lands on a target, it becomes impossible to hit that target afterward, making the mission impossible to progress further.
Future Response
- These issues will be addressed in an update patch releasing in November 2025.
- The development team has confirmed that further details—including additional improvements and minor bug fixes—will be shared once the update is finalized.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A continues the evolution of the Pokémon franchise’s action RPG formula, following the success of Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Set entirely in Lumiose City within the Kalos region, the game reimagines the metropolis amid a vast urban redevelopment project, emphasizing coexistence between humans and Pokémon. Players can explore this dynamic environment, engage in real-time battles, and experience the return of Mega Evolutions alongside an overhauled battle system focused on movement and positioning.
The game launched worldwide on October 16, 2025, as a cross-generation title for the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, with enhanced graphics and performance on the newer console.
