The Pokémon Company has announced its plans for Pokémon Day 2026, confirming that a new Pokémon Presents broadcast will air on February 27 to celebrate 30 years of the franchise.
The presentation is scheduled to stream at 6:00 a.m. PST, 2:00 p.m. GMT, and 3:00 p.m. CET on the official Pokémon YouTube and Twitch channels. Pokémon Day commemorates the original release of Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green in Japan in 1996, and this year’s event marks the series’ 30th anniversary.
Alongside the broadcast, the company confirmed that Pokémon FireRed Version and Pokémon LeafGreen Version will launch on Nintendo Switch as download exclusive titles on February 27. Originally released for the Game Boy Advance in 2004 as remakes of the original Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green, both titles will become available to play following the conclusion of the Pokémon Presents stream. The games will be supported on both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 systems.
The anniversary celebrations also tie into the previously announced What’s Your Favorite campaign, a year-long initiative inviting fans to share their favorite Pokémon. As part of the campaign, players can use a new snapshot feature in Pokémon GO to highlight their chosen Pokémon. Pokémon GO itself is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.
In addition, February 27 will mark the release of the first LEGO Pokémon sets. Developed through a collaboration between The Pokémon Company International and the LEGO Group, the initial wave includes brick built versions of Pikachu, Eevee, Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise.
Further updates across the Pokémon franchise are expected to be shared during the Pokémon Presents broadcast on Pokémon Day.
