Pokemon World Championships 2025 Winners Revealed, Mega Evolutions and New Pokemon XP Event Announced

The Pokémon World Championships 2025 concluded with thrilling matches across multiple games, crowning new champions and setting the stage for exciting future announcements. The event brought together the best competitive players worldwide, showcasing Pokémon Unite, Pokémon GO, the Pokémon Trading Card Game, and Pokémon VGC.

In Pokémon Unite, Peru_GG claimed the championship title after an intense series, solidifying their place at the top of the competitive scene. Meanwhile, Beelzeboy emerged as the Pokémon GO World Champion. The Pokémon TCG divisions saw Yuya win the Junior Division, Fuguan secure the Senior Division, and Riley McKay take the Masters Division crown. On the VGC side, Luke triumphed in the Junior Division, Kevin in the Senior Division, and Giovanni Cischke earned the prestigious Masters Division title.

Beyond competition, The Pokémon Company unveiled several announcements. Most notably, Pokemon Champions will become the official VGC software starting at Worlds 2026. The new format will introduce the Omni Ring, allowing players to Mega Evolve their Pokémon under fresh ranked battle regulations. The Pokémon TCG also revealed the return of Mega Evolution cards, with Mega Charizard X ex, Mega Dragonite ex, Mega Gyarados ex, and Mega Altaria ex confirmed.

Another major highlight was the reveal of Pokémon XP, a brand-new large-scale event debuting alongside the 2026 Pokémon World Championships in San Francisco. Running from August 28 to August 30, 2026, at the Moscone Center, Pokémon XP promises panels, workshops, exclusive merchandise, guest appearances, and live performances. Registration for multi-day passes will begin on September 17, 2025, with different tiers available, including an Arena Experience Pass granting access to the Championship Sunday finals.

The Pokémon World Championships continues to stand as the pinnacle of competitive Pokémon, blending high-stakes esports with major community celebrations. With Pokémon Champions and Pokémon XP on the horizon, 2026 looks to be one of the most significant years in the franchise’s history.
