Project Code M Scenario Completed, Surpasses Fata Morgana in Volume

by Salal Awan

Hanada Keika has announced the completion of the full scenario for Project Code M, confirming that the final line of the script has now been written. The update was shared directly by the writer, who described the moment as deeply personal and emphasized the scale of the finished work. According to Hanada, the total volume of the scenario surpasses that of The House in Fata Morgana, the acclaimed visual novel that previously defined NOVECT’s reputation.

In a statement shared publicly, Hanada wrote, “I finally wrote the very last line. The scenario for my new work is finished.” He described the completion as a once-in-a-lifetime experience, adding, “It became a moment I’ll never forget. I can’t help but feel that I may never be able to write something like this again.” He further stated that the story represents everything he wanted to express as a writer, calling it a project he is genuinely glad to have completed.

Hanada acknowledged that it is unusual for a writer to describe their own work in such terms, but still chose to do so. “I don’t think it’s a word the writer themselves should use, but even so, I want to say it anyway: this is a major work,” he said. He went on to confirm that, in terms of sheer volume, the scenario exceeds The House in Fata Morgana, while also stressing that length alone was not the goal. According to Hanada, unnecessary material was removed, and careful attention was given to every line of the script.

Project Code M, officially stylized as Project Code Name M, is an upcoming mystery adventure title from NOVECT, the studio behind The House in Fata Morgana. The game is set in modern-day Tokyo, particularly within the Shitamachi districts such as Asakusa and Yoshiwara, and is structured around two contrasting perspectives. Players will experience the narrative both as a criminal constructing a crime and as an investigator attempting to uncover the truth behind it.

The title was previously announced to be published by Aksys Games following its appearance at Anime Expo 2025. It is currently confirmed for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. While a specific release date has not been announced, the developers have indicated that the project is targeting a full launch in late 2026.

Reflecting on audience expectations, Hanada noted that Project Code M will differ in direction from The House in Fata Morgana, while still maintaining his core writing approach. “If you trust my writing itself, I promise I won’t betray that trust,” he said, adding that he feels both excitement and nervousness ahead of the game’s eventual release. With the scenario now complete, Project Code M appears to have reached a major development milestone, even if its final unveiling is still some distance away.
