PlayStation Plus subscribers will start December 2025 with one of Rockstar’s most acclaimed titles. Rockstar Games has confirmed that Red Dead Redemption, along with its Undead Nightmare expansion, will join the PS Plus Game Catalog on December 2, the same day the new versions launch across PS5, Xbox Series consoles, and Nintendo Switch 2. This marks the first officially announced title for the December 2025 PS Plus lineup, following November’s major addition of Grand Theft Auto V.
Rockstar released the announcement alongside the reveal of its expanded platform rollout. Red Dead Redemption will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X and S, Nintendo Switch 2, and even mobile devices via iOS, Android, and Netflix’s game service. In its statement, Rockstar said, “On December 2, the epic Western adventures Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare will be available for the latest mobile devices and on current generation consoles — with free upgrades, the ability to carry over game progress, and a number of enhancements.”
The new versions include the complete single player content from both Red Dead Redemption and its zombie-themed Undead Nightmare companion. Rockstar emphasized its enhancements for modern hardware, noting that PS5 and Xbox Series platforms will support 4K resolution, HDR, higher image clarity, and 60 frames per second. The studio added that, “Players on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S can look forward to a smooth 60 frames per second experience, enhanced image quality, HDR support, and resolutions up to 4K.”
The Switch 2 version will leverage the system’s updated capabilities, offering HDR, DLSS support, and 60 frames per second gameplay. Rockstar described it as taking “full advantage of this new hardware,” while noting that the title also supports mouse controls on Nintendo’s device.
Rockstar confirmed that the upgrades will be free for all existing digital owners on prior-generation systems. That includes PS4, Switch, and Xbox One players, who will retain their save data when moving to the new consoles. In the announcement, the company stated, “Current owners on PS4, Nintendo Switch, or the digital backward compatible version on Xbox One will be able to upgrade digitally for free.”
These versions, created with Double Eleven and Cast Iron Games, will also join both the GTA+ Games Library and the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog on December 2.
