PS5 Continues Its Sales Lead Over Nintendo Switch 2 In Spain For The 3rd Consecutive Month

by Muhammad Ali Bari

The PS5 has reportedly maintained its sales lead over the Nintendo Switch 2 for the third consecutive month.

According to sales data shared by Vandal, Sony’s PS5 has managed to outsell Nintendo’s newly launched Switch 2 in Spain for the third consecutive month. The latter launched in early June, 2025, with an impressive first week, selling nearly 73,000 units in Spain. In contrast, the PS5 sold just over 11,000 units during the same period. Unsurprisingly, Nintendo’s console dominated its first three weeks on the market, capitalizing on the buzz of newly launched hardware. By the end of the momth, Switch 2 had moved over 93,000 units compared to the PS5’s 30,600. However, starting in July, 2025, momentum began to shift.

The PS5 narrowly overtook the Switch 2 in July, 2025, selling 31,400 units compared to Nintendo’s 28,700. That lead grew even stronger in August, 2025, with Sony’s console selling 21,050 units against 15,450 for the Switch 2. The trend continued into the first half of September, 2025, where PS5 once again led with 10,050 units sold versus 6,700 for its competitor.

Overall, since launch, the Switch 2 has still sold more units in Spain i.e. around 145,300 compared to PS5’s 93,100. However, if the initial launch week is excluded, the PS5 actually holds the edge in cumulative sales, with 81,700 units sold since June versus 72,350 for Nintendo’s console. This indicates that the PS5 has been consistently stronger week-to-week outside of the Switch 2’s launch window.

What makes the PS5’s sales performance more impressive is that the console is nearing its fifth year on the market, and still continues to maintain a sales lead in Spain. The Switch 2 is no slouch, however, as it has quickly surpassed sales of 6 million units worldwide in just seven weeks. Vandal noted that retailers across the country have reported the sufficient availability of supplies for both consoles, suggesting that stock issues are not a factor here. With the holiday season approaching, it’ll be interesting to observe future sales trends for both consoles in Spain.
