Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced a global price increase for the PlayStation 5 lineup, including the PS5, PS5 Digital Edition, PS5 Pro, and the PlayStation Portal remote player. The updated pricing will take effect on April 2, 2026, across multiple regions.
According to Sony, the decision comes amid ongoing pressures in the global economic environment. The company stated that rising costs have made the adjustment necessary in order to maintain the development and delivery of its gaming hardware and services.
In the United States, the standard PS5 will now retail for $649.99, while the Digital Edition is set at $599.99. The higher-end PS5 Pro will see a more significant increase, reaching $899.99. The PlayStation Portal remote player will also rise to $249.99.
Similar adjustments have been outlined for other major markets. In the United Kingdom, the PS5 is priced at £569.99, the Digital Edition at £519.99, and the PS5 Pro at £789.99, while the PlayStation Portal will cost £219.99. Across Europe, pricing is set at €649.99 for the standard model, €599.99 for the Digital Edition, and €899.99 for the PS5 Pro, with the Portal matching at €249.99.
Japan will also see revised pricing, with the PS5 set at ¥97,980, the Digital Edition at ¥89,980, and the PS5 Pro at ¥137,980. The PlayStation Portal in the region will be priced at ¥39,980.
Sony noted that these are recommended retail prices and may vary depending on local retailers and markets outside the listed regions. The company acknowledged that price increases can impact consumers but emphasized that the move was made following careful evaluation of current market conditions.
The adjustment marks one of the more significant global pricing changes for PlayStation hardware in recent years, particularly with the inclusion of the PS5 Pro and accessories alongside the base console models.
