PS5 Ratings Suggest Life Is Strange Remasters and Life Is Strange 2 Upgrade

The Life Is Strange series may soon be making its way natively onto PlayStation 5, as three titles have recently received new ratings for the platform. According to listings on the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) website, Life Is Strange Remastered, Life Is Strange: Before the Storm Remastered, and Life Is Strange 2 Complete Season have all been rated for PS5.

At present, these versions are only available on PlayStation 4, with PS5 owners relying on backward compatibility to access them. The sudden appearance of dedicated PS5 ratings suggests that Square Enix may be preparing to roll out upgraded editions. It also raises the possibility that existing players could receive free upgrades, a practice the publisher has previously adopted with other titles.

The Life Is Strange franchise has become one of Square Enix’s most recognizable adventure series since its debut in 2015. Developed initially by Dontnod Entertainment, the first game was released episodically and later followed by Life Is Strange: Before the Storm, developed by Deck Nine in 2017. The series continued with Life Is Strange 2 in 2018 and Life Is Strange: True Colors in 2021, before the latest entry, Life Is Strange: Double Exposure, arrived in October 2024. In addition to games, the brand has expanded into comics and novels, further building its universe.

Neither Square Enix nor the developers have made any official announcements regarding the PS5 versions, but with ESRB ratings now public, it is likely that news could follow soon. Fans of the series who own the remastered collection or Life Is Strange 2 may want to keep an eye out for potential upgrade offers or release details in the coming months.
