Sony has released a new PlayStation 5 system software update, version 25.06-12.02.00. This update is relatively minor and focuses primarily on security fixes, with no additional features highlighted by the company.

The previous major update, version 25.06-12.00.00, introduced significant enhancements such as a new power saver mode for supported games, controller device pairing improvements, and stability updates across PS5 peripherals.

Full Patch Notes:

  • Version 25.06-12.02.00
    • Security fixes applied to system software
  • Previous Major Update (25.06-12.00.00)
    • Added power saver mode for supported PS5 games
    • Adjustable performance scaling to reduce power consumption
    • Power saver icon now appears in Switcher for active supported games
    • DualSense and DualSense Edge controllers updated with device pairing support for up to 4 devices
    • Stability improvements for DualSense, DualSense Edge, PlayStation VR2 Sense, and Access controllers
    • Improved messages and usability on certain screens
    • General system performance and stability improvements

Sony has not shared specifics on the security fixes included in the latest update, but they may relate to ongoing efforts to prevent console exploits. While the PlayStation 4 was eventually compromised, the PS5 has been available for nearly five years without a widespread homebrew solution.

Earlier, Sony revealed that during the PS5 generation, its revenue surpassed that of the PS4 and other consoles they have released.
