Sony has launched the latest system software update for the PS5, version 24.06-10.00.00, alongside the new PS4 update 12.00. This PS5 firmware update introduces a variety of new features, system improvements, and user interface enhancements. These changes aim to enhance the user experience through personalization options, improved functionality, and energy efficiency.

This firmware update was launched after the announcement of the PS5 Pro and it appears to introduce a new feature that is exclusive to the PS5 Slim/Pro called Adaptive Charging.

Key Features and Enhancements in PS5 Firmware Update 24.06-10.00.00:

  • Introduction of the Welcome Hub:
    • The new Welcome Hub is now available on the home screen for users in North America, replacing the Explore Hub. The Welcome Hub provides a customizable interface where users can add widgets displaying information such as storage, battery levels, and online friends.
    • Widgets can be customized by adding, removing, resizing, and repositioning them. Users can also choose from preset layouts to suit their preferences.
    • While a limited number of users will receive the Welcome Hub initially, the feature will be rolled out to all users globally within 1-2 months.
  • Personalized 3D Audio Profiles:
    • Users can now create personalized 3D audio profiles optimized for their ears, enhancing the immersive audio experience for headphones.
    • To create a personalized 3D audio profile, navigate to Settings > Sound > 3D Audio (Headphones). Preset 3D audio options remain available alongside the new personalized profiles.
  • Adaptive Charging for Controllers:
    • A new adaptive charging feature is available for the PS5 (CFI-2000 model group) when in rest mode. This feature adjusts the power supply to the USB ports based on the remaining battery level of connected controllers, optimizing power usage.
    • Adaptive charging supports the DualSense wireless controller, DualSense Edge wireless controller, PS VR2 Sense controllers, and the Access controller. Users can enable this feature by going to Settings > System > Power Saving > Features Available in Rest Mode, and selecting Supply Power to USB Ports > Adaptive.
  • Party Link Sharing:
    • Players can now share links to their parties with others across different platforms and services, making it easier to invite friends to join a party. This feature will be gradually rolled out following the update’s release.
  • Remote Play User Controls:
    • Users can now set which accounts are allowed to connect to the PS5 through Remote Play. To enable this feature, go to Settings > System > Remote Play > Enable Remote Play, and select the users who can access your console.
  • License Restoration Improvement:
    • The restore licenses feature has been updated, allowing users to restore licenses for individual games. This option can be accessed through Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Restore Licenses or directly from the home screen or Game Library.
  • Additional Enhancements:
    • A storage space recommendation feature has been added, providing helpful storage management tips.
    • Game hubs now display only activities that are in progress, making it easier to navigate through current gameplay sessions.
    • The Invite to New Game option has been removed when sending game invitations. Instead, players are encouraged to invite friends after starting a game session.
    • The firmware update also includes stability improvements for the DualSense controllers, PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers, and Access controllers, along with overall system performance and stability enhancements.
