PUBG: Battlegrounds will soon bid farewell to last-generation consoles, as developer Krafton has announced plans to end support for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 13, 2025. From that date onward, PUBG Console will only be playable on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, marking a complete transition to current-generation hardware.
The move, outlined in the studio’s 2025 roadmap, is aimed at delivering a more stable and visually enhanced experience for console players. According to the development team, the shift will allow for better frame rate consistency, memory optimizations to reduce crashes, and upgraded graphics, including support for higher resolutions and dynamic 4K on certain platforms.
In a statement to players, Krafton said, “This shift is a necessary step toward aligning PUBG Console with current-gen consoles… Following this transition, console players will see improved visuals and more stable frame rates.”
Player accounts and purchased items will carry over automatically to the new versions, eliminating the need for any manual data transfer. PS5 users will be required to download the native PS5 version from the PlayStation Store after November 13, while Xbox players will receive the current-gen version through Smart Delivery.
After the update, supported specifications will vary by system. Xbox Series S players can choose between 1080p at 60 frames per second or 1440p at 30 frames per second, while Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 Pro will feature dynamic 4K resolution at 60fps. Standard PlayStation 5 consoles will support 1440p resolution at 60fps.

While the decision marks the end of an era for PUBG on its original console platforms, it also signals the developer’s intent to keep the game evolving for years to come by focusing solely on modern hardware capabilities.
