Ubisoft’s first-person shooter, Rainbow Six Siege, has been hacked, and players have reportedly been given billions in in-game currency.
Rainbow Six Siege players across all platforms were caught off guard on December 27, 2025, when a major security incident resulted in the game getting hacked, disrupting its in-game economy and account stability. According to multiple reports, a large-scale hack resulted in accounts being flooded with enormous amounts of in-game currency, rare cosmetics, and other premium items, without player consent.
The incident reportedly began in the early morning hours, with players on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation logging in to find billions of Renown and R6 Credits suddenly added to their accounts. Some users claimed they instantly unlocked every skin and cosmetic in the game. Shortly after, Ubisoft temporarily shut down Rainbow Six Siege servers and disabled the in-game store in an attempt to contain the damage. More alarmingly, several players reported random account bans, apparently triggered by automated systems flagging these illegitimate currency changes.
Ubisoft has officially acknowledged the security breach and confirmed that it is actively investigating the situation. The company clarified that nobody will be banned for spending credits received. That said, a rollback of all unauthorized transactions is underway.
According to Ubisoft, the ban ticker was turned off in a past update, and any messages seen were not triggered by the company. An official Rainbow Six Siege ShieldGuard ban wave did occur, but it is not related to this incident. The development team is working very hard to make sure this is resolved and players can play again.
The attack may have exploited vulnerabilities in Ubisoft’s IT infrastructure, potentially involving unsecured interfaces or outdated security patches. However, Ubisoft has not yet confirmed the exact method used. It also remains unclear whether personal player data, such as emails or passwords, was compromised. Until the company fully resolves the issue, players are advised to avoid logging into the game, refrain from spending any in-game currency, and review account security settings.
