Reliable Insider Suggests Nintendo Direct Is Coming in Mid September

by Salal Awan

The long-rumored September Nintendo Direct may finally have a date, if reliable insider reports are to be believed. Industry commentator NateTheHate, who has built a strong track record with accurate leaks in recent years, has claimed that Nintendo will hold its next Direct in the second week of September. According to his post on X, the presentation is expected on or around September 11 or 12, 2025.

When asked about the nature of the broadcast, Nate clarified that this is the only Nintendo Direct he is aware of for the month, quashing speculation about multiple presentations. While he refrained from offering specific details, he did address questions regarding potential third-party titles. In response to fan inquiries about Red Dead Redemption 2 and The Witcher 3, Nate remarked that Red Dead Redemption 2 is “Switch 2 bound regardless of announcement venue,” though he had no knowledge of a new edition of The Witcher 3.

This report builds upon earlier claims from fellow insider SwitchForce, who recently described the September Nintendo Direct as “the big one.” Unlike the smaller Partner Showcase in July and the Indie World in August, this rumored broadcast is said to be a full general presentation. That would make it the first large-scale Direct since the launch of the Switch 2, raising expectations considerably. SwitchForce had also teased the September 12 date in a cryptic social media post, hinting that Nintendo “dialed 912 instead of 911 to phone in an emergency.”

Adding fuel to speculation, the timing coincides with the 40th anniversary of Super Mario Bros, which officially falls on September 13, 2025. This has led to predictions that Nintendo may use the Direct to unveil a major new Mario title or anniversary project, alongside updates on other first-party releases.

Nintendo has a long history of hosting September Directs, often using them to set the stage for the remainder of the year and beyond. With two prominent insiders independently pointing toward mid September, expectations for major announcements are growing among fans.
