Multiple reports indicate that Sony Interactive Entertainment may not be holding a PlayStation Showcase this summer in 2025.

Known insiders NateTheHate (aka NateDrake) and John Harker took to the gaming enthusiast Reset Era forums to share what they know about the possibility of a PlayStation Showcase event or a State of Play presentation happening this summer in 2025. When asked about the possibility of any upcoming show from Sony Interactive Entertainment, Nate said that he hasn’t heard anything from his sources.

Furthermore, John agreed with a forum member who thinks Sony Interactive Entertainment will likely target a PlayStation Showcase or State of Play for later this year in September, 2025.

While both insiders are in agreement on Sony Interactive Entertainment not holding a a PlayStation Showcase or State of Play this summer, Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb, who is also known for his connections in the game industry, is of a different opinion. During an episode of the Game Mess Decides podcast in February, 2025, he discussed the titles that the company is planning to publish in 2025. Based on his informed speculation, the lineup is made up of Lost Soul Aside, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Marathon, and Ghost of Yotei. He termed it as a “light” year for PlayStation Studios titles, and cautioned fans to not expect anything else from the company in 2025. According to Grubb, 2026 is the year when a lot of projects that are in development at PlayStation Studios will see the light of day, including the likes of Marvel’s Wolverine and Saros.

Based on what Grubb had heard back in February, Sony Interactive Entertainment was debating between hosting a full-fledged PlayStation Showcase or another State of Play presentation during the summer of 2025. As per him, if the company does go ahead with a showcase, it will have a lot of announcements and games to show.
