The reveal and release windows for Capcom’s next survival horror game, Resident Evil 9, have been revealed, according to insider Dusk Golem.
Known Capcom insider and horror game enthusiast Dusk Golem (aka AestheticGamer1) took to Twitter/X to respond to a question regarding the reveal and release schedule for Resident Evil 9. He said that he is almost 100% sure that the upcoming survival horror game will be revealed in 2025, and that it will be released in the following year. He believes that Capcom will not delay the survival horror title any further.

The thing Golem is currently uncertain of is whether Resident Evil 9 will be revealed this summer during either the Summer Game Fest, the Xbox Games Showcase, or a potential PlayStation event or State of Play presentation, or at The Game Awards 2025. for example this year. He is also unsure if the game is releasing during Capcom’s current fiscal year, which ends on March 31, 2026, or later in 2026 during the company’s next fiscal year.
The insider believes that, part of the reason why Resident Evil 9 received an internal delay was that Capcom decided the game needed more time in development due to reasons pertaining to tech and design, He suspects that the extra time is to optimize performance and re-design some aspects that the development team could improve upon.
As per Golem, the only likely scenario where Capcom could delay Resident Evil 9 at this point is if its launch ends up aligning with that of GTA VI, as the company wouldn’t want to compete with the juggernaut. He believes that his is one of the only routes Capcom that could push the game to an early 2027 release, within fiscal year ending March 31, 2026.
A few months earlier, Golem had claimed that the reason Resident Evil 9 has been in development for a long time is because it’s a major “reinvention” of the series in the same manner that Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 7 were after their respective prior entries. Read about it here.
