The unannounced remake of Capcom’s Resident Evil – Code: Veronica will be announced next year, and will have a 2027 release window, according to a new rumor.
Known insider and horror game enthusiast AestheticGamer1, also known as Dusk Golem, took to Twitter/X to respond to a query regarding the possibility of the remake of the 2000 survival horror game getting announced next year. As per what he’s heard from his sources, the Resident Evil – Code: Veronica remake should indeed be announced next year, followed by its release in 2027.
Golem further mentioned that Claire Redfield fans will be pleased to hear that she is being treated as the main character in the Resident Evil – Code: Veronica remake. That said, he clarified that Chris Redfield isn’t getting sidelined or anything, but it’s still very much his sibling’s game. Golem further claimed that the Resident Evil Zero remake will see the light of day sometime in the year 2028.
As for Leon S. Kennedy’s fate in Resident Evil Requiem, Golem said that he currently doesn’t know how the game will end. Even he does find out in the future, he doesn’t plan on revealing such details. He has made it a policy not to be the one to put out any further character details out there for Resident Evil Requiem. That said, he speculated that Leon may end up retiring after the ninth entry in the Resident Evil series.
Back in August, the same insider claimed that the Resident Evil – Code: Veronica remake is being handled by many of the same developers responsible for the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4, both of which were praised for successfully modernizing classics in the long-running survival horror franchise. Golem explained that while Code: Veronica may not reach the same level of ambition as the Resident Evil 4 remake due to the scope of the original material, it is still receiving a full big-budget treatment. He described it as “a big budget RE title in every way.”
