Resident Evil Code Veronica Remake Directors Reportedly Revealed Alongside New Story Details

by Salal Awan

New details surrounding the rumored Resident Evil Code Veronica Remake have surfaced, including the reported directors and several changes to the game’s structure. The information comes from known leaker Dusk Golem, who has shared multiple insights into Capcom’s ongoing Resident Evil projects.

According to the leak, the remake is being directed by Kazunori Kadoi and Yasuhiro Anpo, the same duo behind Resident Evil 2 Remake and Resident Evil 4 Remake. This would place the project in the hands of a team already familiar with modernizing classic entries in the series.

Dusk Golem claims that the remake will retain all core elements from the original game, with no major content removed. However, several aspects are said to be expanded or heavily reworked. In a series of posts, the leaker stated, “What I’ve heard is Resident Evil Code Veronica in general is just a bit expanded, nothing is cut, some stuff heavily remixed (I hear it’s the Remake with the most things changed or happening differently than you may remember, but every enemy, location, major event, is there.”

Character roles are also reportedly being adjusted. Chris Redfield’s presence in the story is said to be expanded, marking his first appearance as a younger version within the RE Engine remake lineup. As part of these changes, his narrative arc may conclude earlier than in the original game. Dusk Golem wrote that Chris will have “his own final boss fight with Wesker (now as a boss fight rather than cutscene) much earlier in the story,” after which Claire Redfield would take over for the latter portion, including the final confrontation with Alexia.

The leaker also noted that Capcom continues to actively plan the future of the Resident Evil franchise, stating that internal discussions for major IPs occur every five years, with past meetings held in 2017 and 2022, and the next expected in 2027. They added that there are no signs of the series slowing down, suggesting ongoing development across multiple projects.

While these details provide an early look at what could be planned for Resident Evil Code Veronica Remake, Capcom has not officially confirmed the project or any of the information shared.
