The often rumored remake of Capcom’s survival horror game, Resident Evil – Code: Veronica, is targeting a release in the first half of the year 2027, according to a new source.
Known insider Nate the Hate took to Twitter/X to thank the Reddit community for naming him the ‘Leaker of the Year’ for 2025. He mentioned that he brought many interesting rumors and leaks last year, and that 2026 will be another exciting year. Subsequently, he was asked whether the rumors regarding the existence of a Resident Evil – Code: Veronica remake are true, to which he responded with a “Yes”.
According to Nate, the Resident Evil – Code: Veronica Code remake is “deep in development”, and Capcom is targeting its release in the first half of 2027. He didn’t have any further details to share at this time.
Nate is the second insider to claim that a Resident Evil – Code: Veronica remake is in the works. Prior to him, known insider and horror game enthusiast Dusk Golem (aka AestheticGamer) claimed that the remake is on track, even ahead of its internal schedule, and likened its quality to that of the Resident Evil 4 remake. The insider noted that the project is being handled by the same team responsible for several of Capcom’s recent remakes, including Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4.
Dusk Golem elaborated on several aspects of the re-imagining. Steve Burnside, a major character, will still maintain his crush on Claire Redfield, though his personality is being reworked to appear less intrusive and more awkwardly curious. Albert Wesker will play a larger role, with the H.C.F. organization becoming a main plot element. His confrontation with Chris Redfield is now positioned as a major boss fight. Meanwhile, Rockfort Island has been redesigned into a semi-open world region, and players will be able to traverse it using Claire’s motorcycle, repaired early in the game.
