Capcom has offered a closer look at Resident Evil Requiem running on the Nintendo Switch 2, with new footage revealed during the latest Nintendo Direct. Alongside the second official trailer, the publisher confirmed the game will release on Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on February 27, 2026.
The Switch 2 version has drawn particular attention, as Capcom shared gameplay directly from the system. Compared to the footage distributed through PlayStation’s official channel, several distinctions can already be observed between the two platforms.
According to the comparison, the Switch 2 version appears capped at 1080p resolution and runs at 30 frames per second, while the PlayStation 5 version targets a smoother 60 frames per second at higher resolutions. Visual adjustments are also apparent, with reductions in global illumination, shadow density, reflections, hair rendering, texture clarity, and certain post-processing effects. These changes indicate the level of adaptation necessary to bring the title to Nintendo’s hybrid platform while maintaining playability.
Despite the cutbacks, the fact that Resident Evil Requiem is running natively on Switch 2 is noteworthy. Capcom has previously leveraged cloud streaming to deliver certain Resident Evil games to Nintendo Switch, but this new hardware has allowed a more direct approach. How well the final build performs under demanding scenarios remains to be seen, yet the current footage suggests a reasonably faithful translation of the horror experience.
In addition to Requiem, Capcom also confirmed that Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village will be arriving on the Switch 2, further strengthening the platform’s lineup of survival horror titles. For fans, this signals a broader commitment from Capcom to ensure that Nintendo players are not left behind as the series moves forward.
