Resident Evil Requiem producer Masato Kumazawa has revealed that former Hollywood CG artists contributed to the development of the game’s visuals, underscoring Capcom’s push for cutting-edge graphical fidelity in the latest mainline entry.

Speaking in a new interview via GenkiJPN, Kumazawa highlighted the studio’s focus on elevating character rendering and emotional detail. “This time around, for example, the skin rendering and the characters’ emotional expressions, these aspects are something we feel we can deliver with confidence as a cutting-edge game,” he said.

He went on to confirm that developers with experience in the film industry were brought in to support the effort. “In fact, we have members who used to work on CG in Hollywood who are joining the development team and cooperating with us. So, I hope that people will pay particular attention to the graphics.”

Resident Evil Requiem, officially recognized as Resident Evil 9, is developed and published by Capcom using the company’s proprietary RE Engine. The game features dual protagonists, returning agent Leon S. Kennedy and newcomer Grace Ashcroft, an FBI intelligence analyst and the daughter of Resident Evil Outbreak survivor Alyssa Ashcroft.

Set 30 years after the destruction of Raccoon City, the story follows Grace as she investigates her mother’s mysterious death, while Leon examines a series of related viral threats. The structure blends first-person, stealth-focused gameplay during Grace’s segments with third-person, action-driven combat in Leon’s chapters.

Resident Evil Requiem launched worldwide on February 27, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
