A new graphics comparison for Resident Evil Requiem has examined the Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S versions, with a particular focus on the capabilities of Nintendo’s latest hardware. The analysis highlights both the strengths and compromises of the Switch 2 port, describing it as an impressive effort despite some technical shortcomings.
According to the breakdown, Resident Evil Requiem does not include display modes on consoles, an unusual choice given current industry standards. All three platforms target 60 frames per second, but performance consistency varies. The Switch 2 reportedly struggles to maintain a stable 60fps, and the analysis notes that an option to lock the frame rate at 30fps would have been welcome. Even so, the reviewer stated that the handheld experience remained enjoyable, though added that VRR support for the Dock “should be mandatory these days.”
In terms of visual quality, both Switch 2 and Xbox Series S feature noticeable cutbacks when compared to the PlayStation 5 version. These reductions affect geometry, texture quality, shadows, hair rendering, and lighting. However, the Switch 2 version is said to render at a higher resolution than Series S and includes some superior textures, placing it in an interesting middle ground between the two systems. Load times on Switch 2 are described as slightly longer than on competing platforms.
Resident Evil Requiem is developed and published by Capcom and serves as the ninth mainline installment in the franchise. The survival horror title follows FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft and DSO agent Leon S. Kennedy in a dual protagonist narrative. Built using the RE Engine, the game allows players to switch between first-person and third-person perspectives while exploring locations such as the Wrenwood Hotel and the ruins of Raccoon City. The game launches globally on February 27, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
