Capcom’s upcoming survival horror entry, Resident Evil Requiem, may not be limited to current-generation consoles after all. According to well-known insider AestheticGamer, also known as Dusk Golem, the game is in development for both PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch 2, in addition to its previously confirmed platforms.
On social media, Dusk Golem explained that he had spoken with multiple sources who confirmed the existence of last-gen and Switch 2 versions. He wrote, “Resident Evil Requiem should be releasing in PlayStation 4 & Nintendo Switch 2, seems this was kinda’ known behind the scenes & in the grapevine.” He further elaborated that he had heard similar information from five separate people in recent weeks, describing it as an open secret within development circles.
The insider suggested that these versions may differ technically from the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC releases. He compared the situation to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii era, noting that advanced features like ray tracing will be reserved for more powerful platforms. According to him, the Nintendo Switch 2’s performance is roughly on par with the PS4, though it may outperform or fall behind in different areas.
Dusk Golem added that Capcom is consciously designing multiple platform-specific builds rather than relying on scaled-down ports. He emphasized that Requiem still makes use of the RE Engine across all platforms but will take advantage of modern hardware where possible. While he could not confirm whether the PS4 and Switch 2 versions will launch alongside the main release, he stated, “If the question is, is it happening or not, the answer pretty much is, yeah it’s happening.”
Beyond Requiem, the insider also touched on other Resident Evil projects, claiming that a remake of Resident Evil Code Veronica remains in development. If progress continues smoothly, he believes it could be announced in 2026 and released in early 2027 to coincide with the franchise’s 30th anniversary.
First revealed at Summer Game Fest 2025, Resident Evil Requiem introduces a new protagonist, FBI agent Grace Ashcroft, who is sent to investigate a string of mysterious deaths at a remote hotel. The game is officially scheduled to launch on February 27, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
