Capcom has announced that Resident Evil Requiem has surpassed 5 million units sold worldwide. The latest entry in the long-running survival horror franchise reached the milestone shortly after its launch on February 27, 2026.
Resident Evil Requiem arrives during a significant moment for the series, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this month. Capcom designed the new installment to build on the franchise’s signature survival horror formula by blending tense moments of fear with more action-driven encounters.
The game was developed using Capcom’s RE ENGINE, the company’s proprietary technology that powers several of its recent releases. According to Capcom, the engine enabled highly detailed visuals, including lifelike character models and lighting effects designed to enhance the atmosphere. Players are also given multiple difficulty settings to accommodate both newcomers and experienced fans. In addition, the game allows players to switch between first-person and third-person perspectives in real time, letting them tailor the experience to their preferred play style.
Resident Evil Requiem also generated strong attention ahead of launch. At Gamescom 2025, the title received multiple awards during the event, including recognition for delivering one of the most impressive overall experiences on display.
The Resident Evil series remains one of Capcom’s most successful franchises. Since the original game debuted in 1996, cumulative sales across the series have exceeded 183 million units worldwide. With Requiem already surpassing 5 million copies sold shortly after release, the latest entry continues the franchise’s long-standing commercial momentum.
