Capcom has shared an extensive new look at Resident Evil Requiem during its latest Resident Evil Showcase, offering fresh gameplay footage, story details, platform information, and several high-profile collaborations ahead of the game’s worldwide launch on February 27, 2026. The presentation highlighted the balance between survival horror and action that defines the upcoming entry, while also outlining how the title will expand across hardware, technology, and cross-brand partnerships.
Resident Evil Requiem features dual protagonists, FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft and longtime series figure Leon Kennedy, each offering a distinct playstyle and tone. Both characters can be played in either first-person or third-person perspectives, with players free to switch between viewpoints at any time. Leon’s gameplay leans heavily into action, emphasizing firearms, close-quarters combat, and precise timing. He can parry enemy attacks, use a variety of weapons, and even turn enemy tools against them, including executing attacks with a seized chainsaw. A new hatchet adds another layer to his combat options, supporting more aggressive encounters and finishing moves.
Grace’s sections take a more survival-focused approach. Her journey begins in a zombie-infested sanatorium, where limited resources and restricted inventory space force careful decision-making. Players must choose when to fight and when to avoid confrontation entirely. Grace gains access to a special device that allows her to craft items using infected blood, opening up new tactical possibilities. One of her key weapons, the Requiem assault revolver, delivers significant firepower but is balanced by scarce ammunition, making its use a calculated risk rather than a routine solution.
Enemies in Resident Evil Requiem are designed to behave in unsettling ways, with some zombies appearing locked into habits from their former lives. Capcom described examples such as a chef who continues cooking or a janitor endlessly polishing mirrors, suggesting that observant players may be able to exploit these behaviors to survive. The story is tied together by the concept of Elpis, a central thread connecting the death of Grace’s mother, Alyssa Ashcroft, Grace’s own past, and events linked to Leon, leaving players to uncover how these elements intersect.
Players will be able to choose from multiple difficulty options. Casual mode offers aim assist and more forgiving combat, while the Standard, or Classic, mode increases tension by limiting saves and requiring Ink Ribbons during Grace’s segments, reinforcing traditional survival horror mechanics focused on planning and resource management.
Resident Evil Requiem is set to launch simultaneously across PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X and S, Steam, Epic Games Store, and the GeForce NOW cloud gaming service. Capcom confirmed that PC versions will support NVIDIA technologies such as DLSS 4 and path tracing for players with high-end systems. GeForce NOW support will allow Steam and Epic Games Store purchasers to play on lower specification hardware, as well as on supported mobile devices and televisions, though a separate subscription will be required.
The showcase also revealed several collaborations tied to the game. Watchmaker Hamilton has created two limited edition timepieces inspired by the watches worn by Leon and Grace in-game, with only 2,000 units available worldwide starting on February 27. Porsche is also collaborating with Capcom, producing a one-of-a-kind Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT customized using advanced 3D printing techniques. The vehicle appears in-game as Leon’s car, designed around themes of performance and survival.
Additional announcements included new merchandise and celebratory events. One-sixth scale figures of Leon and Grace are scheduled to release this fall, with designs compatible with previous collector releases. To mark the series 30th anniversary, Capcom will host Resident Evil Symphony of Legacy concerts across Japan, North America, and Europe later this year. The game will be available in Standard and Deluxe editions, with the Deluxe version including cosmetic items such as costumes, weapon skins, charms, and filters. All pre-orders will receive a bonus costume for Grace.
Nintendo Switch 2 players will see additional Resident Evil releases on launch day, with Resident Evil 7 biohazard Gold Edition and Resident Evil Village Gold Edition also arriving on the platform, alongside a bundled Resident Evil Generation Pack. Capcom also confirmed a themed Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller, a Premium Steelbook Edition, and the first-ever Resident Evil amiibo featuring Grace, scheduled for Summer 2026. Epic Games Store purchasers will receive Resident Evil-themed cosmetic items in Fortnite as part of a separate promotion.
