Resident Evil Requiem Story Expansion Confirmed, New Mini Game and Photo Mode Update Planned

by Salal Awan

Capcom has confirmed that a story expansion for Resident Evil Requiem is currently in development. The update was shared by director Koshi Nakanishi in a video message posted on the official Resident Evil X account.

During the message, Nakanishi revealed that the development team is working on additional narrative content that will further explore the game’s world. “We are planning to make extra story content. In this story, we will delve deeper into the world of Requiem. We’re hard at work on it now. It will take some time, so we ask for your patience and hope you’ll look forward to it.”

No release window has been announced for the expansion, though the director indicated that development is ongoing and will require more time before it is ready.

Alongside the story expansion, Capcom also confirmed a number of additional updates for the game. A photo mode feature is planned for a future update, allowing players to capture scenes during gameplay. The developers are also preparing to introduce a new mini game, which is scheduled to arrive in May.

Resident Evil Requiem launched on February 27, 2026, as the ninth mainline entry in Capcom’s long-running survival horror franchise and part of the series’ 30th anniversary celebrations. The game features a dual protagonist structure, allowing players to alternate between Leon S. Kennedy and a new character, FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft.

The two playable characters present different gameplay styles throughout the campaign. Grace’s sections focus on slower-paced survival horror mechanics with limited resources, while Leon’s segments lean toward the more action-oriented approach that fans associate with Resident Evil 4.

Resident Evil Requiem is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S, PC through Steam and Epic Games Store, and Nintendo Switch 2. Capcom has not yet shared further details about the upcoming story expansion beyond confirming that development is underway.
