Resident Evil Requiem Surpasses Four Million Wishlists Ahead of Launch

by Greg Martin

Capcom has confirmed that Resident Evil Requiem has surpassed four million wishlists ahead of its scheduled release, marking a major pre-launch milestone for the next mainline entry in the long-running survival horror franchise. The update was shared through the official Resident Evil social media account as the game moves closer to its release window.

In the post, Capcom acknowledged the growing anticipation surrounding the title, stating, “Less than two months away… Thank you for over 4 million wishlists for Resident Evil Requiem.” The message highlights both the scale of interest in the game and its proximity to launch, positioning it as one of the most closely watched releases heading into early 2026.

Resident Evil Requiem is the ninth mainline installment in the franchise and is being positioned as a significant evolution of the series. Officially revealed during Summer Game Fest in June 2025, the game serves as a thematic return to the franchise’s roots while also functioning as a celebration tied to the series’ 30th anniversary. The setting revisits locations connected to Raccoon City, reframed within a post-apocalyptic Midwest backdrop.

The game follows a dual narrative structure centered on two protagonists. One storyline focuses on FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft, who is identified as the daughter of Alyssa Ashcroft from Resident Evil Outbreak. Running alongside this is the return of Leon S Kennedy, depicted as a more hardened version of the longtime series character. Both characters are tied to the unfolding events as they investigate and confront new biological threats within interconnected environments.

From a gameplay perspective, Resident Evil Requiem allows players to switch freely between first-person and third-person viewpoints. The game also features open-level environments that can be explored using vehicles, expanding the scope of traversal compared to previous entries. Development is being handled using an advanced version of Capcom’s RE Engine, which continues to underpin the visual and technical direction of the franchise.

Resident Evil Requiem is scheduled for a global release on February 27, 2026. The game will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, and Nintendo Switch 2. With four million wishlists already recorded, the title is entering its final pre-launch period with strong momentum and clear audience interest.
