Resident Evil Requiem to Feature Dual Protagonists Leon Kennedy and Grace Ashcroft

by Greg Martin

Capcom has announced that Resident Evil Requiem, the next mainline entry in the long-running survival horror series, will release on February 27, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X and S, and PC via Steam. The announcement, revealed during The Game Awards 2025, confirms that the game features a dual protagonist structure following FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft and established series figure Leon S. Kennedy.

According to Capcom, the story begins when both characters independently investigate the same abandoned hotel after the discovery of an unidentified corpse. The publisher states that Leon’s campaign will emphasize action oriented encounters, while Grace’s section will focus more heavily on traditional survival horror mechanics.

Capcom also outlined several promotional partnerships and edition specific features tied to the launch. One collaboration will introduce a Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT into the game as Leon’s vehicle, though the publisher did not clarify whether this element plays a functional role in gameplay or serves primarily as a cosmetic inclusion. The Deluxe Edition will add three alternate costumes for Leon and a weapon charm themed after the Division of Security Operations, supplementing previously announced preorder incentives that include an additional outfit for Grace.

Alongside the release of Requiem, Capcom will bring Resident Evil 7 Biohazard Gold Edition and Resident Evil Village Gold Edition to the Nintendo Switch 2. A bundle titled The Resident Evil Generation Pack will combine both titles with Requiem and will be available exclusively for that platform.

Additional initiatives include a planned Resident Evil Showcase presentation in early 2026 and a Fortnite collaboration that will grant cosmetic items to players who purchase Requiem through the Epic Games Store. Capcom did not provide details on the specific items or delivery timing. A themed Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller and the first Resident Evil amiibo, featuring Grace Ashcroft, are also set for release, with the controller arriving at launch and the amiibo scheduled for summer 2026.

For collectors, Capcom will offer a Premium Steelbook Edition containing the base game, Deluxe Edition content, and a lenticular card. Availability will be limited.
