Capcom has released a new update for Resident Evil Requiem on PlayStation 5. The patch, labeled version 1.12, began rolling out today and is currently available for download on the platform.
The update appears to be relatively small, coming in at just under 500 MB. At the time of writing, Capcom has not published official patch notes outlining the specific changes included in the update. Given the size of the download, it is possible that the patch focuses on minor bug fixes or backend improvements rather than major gameplay adjustments.
Because no official details have been shared yet, the exact purpose of update 1.12 remains unclear. Once Capcom releases patch notes or additional information about the update, further details will likely emerge regarding any fixes or adjustments introduced with the patch.
The release of the new update follows earlier reports concerning the previous patch for the game. A technical analysis suggested that Resident Evil Requiem update 1.11 may have reduced certain visual features on PlayStation 5 Pro, particularly in locations that previously used ray tracing.
According to that analysis, the opening area of Raccoon City appears to no longer use ray-traced global illumination on PS5 Pro following the update. Earlier versions of the game reportedly featured the technology in that area, though it now seems to be absent after the patch. Other locations in the game do not appear to be affected by the change, with areas such as the R.D.P. and ARK reportedly showing no noticeable visual differences compared to earlier versions.
Resident Evil Requiem, the ninth mainline entry in Capcom’s long-running survival horror series, launched on February 27, 2026. The title quickly became a major commercial success, selling more than 5 million units within its first five days and setting a new record as the fastest-selling game in the franchise.
The game follows two protagonists, veteran series character Leon S. Kennedy and newcomer Grace Ashcroft, as they navigate the ruins of Raccoon City. Resident Evil Requiem blends traditional survival horror elements with modern action gameplay and is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store.
